Enjoyed with grilled lamb at the Grecotel Riviera Olympia restaurant – less than ten kilometers from the wine's place of origin. For many, one of the most iconic Cabernets in Greece. In Germany, long-time fans of the wine under Christos Kokkalis occasionally voice criticism of the stylistic evolution since the takeover by Ktima Biblia Chora. Personally, what I miss most is the second wine: the once so characterful cuvée Mova (Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon) was replaced by Dialogos (Agiorgitiko with Syrah) – a reliable, but noticeably tamer wine. And the point stands: anyone offering Cabernet Sauvignon in this price range (just under €50) should have a second, more accessible line with the same grape variety in their portfolio.

In the end, though, what matters is what's in the glass. And the current Trilogia 2019 is the most convincing vintage yet under the new management. On the nose it is lively, with abundant raspberry over the varietal cassis fruit. The acid structure is good; overall the wine comes across as medium-bodied – which gives it a lovely drinkability at the moment. The tannins nonetheless suggest there is more to come. Whether the finish will also develop greater complexity over the coming years remains an exciting prospect to watch. Currently: 94 points, with potential for 95–96 points in five years.
