Enjoyed with grilled lamb in the restaurant of the Grecotel Riviera Olympia – less than ten kilometres from the wine's place of origin. For many, one of the most iconic Cabernets in Greece. In Germany, one occasionally hears criticism from long-standing fans of the wine under Christos Kokkalis regarding its stylistic development since the takeover by Ktima Biblia Chora. Personally, I most of all miss the second wine: the once so characterful Cuvée Mova (Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon) has been replaced by the Dialogos (Agiorgitiko with Syrah) – a reliable but distinctly tamer wine. And the point stands: anyone offering Cabernet Sauvignon in this price bracket (just under €50) ought to have a second, more accessible line featuring the same grape variety in their portfolio.

In the end, though, what counts is what is in the glass. And the current Trilogia 2019 is the most convincing vintage under the new regime so far. Lively on the nose, with plenty of raspberry over the varietally typical cassis fruit. The acid structure is good, and overall the wine comes across as rather medium-bodied – which lends it a lovely drinkability at the moment. The tannins nonetheless suggest that there is more to come. Whether the finish, too, will develop greater complexity in the coming years remains intriguing to watch. Currently: 94 points, with potential for 95 to 96 points in five years.
