Christos Kokkalis - Trilogia 2014. What a wild wine, as wild as its story of origin. The last wine for which Kokkalis still tended the vines, while Biblia Chora already took over harvest and vinification that autumn. At the moment a true tannin monster; beneath that, wild, salty notes, smoky-bacony aromas, and a thick, bittersweet chocolate coat. With air, dark fruit begins to emerge. It needs time to fully reveal its rough beauty, but could become a thunderous final chapter of the Kokkalis legend. At the same time, it stands as a reminder against the later Trilogia vintages vinified by Biblia Chora: they lack — as the old Kokkalis devotees would say — this wildness and unwieldy singularity.
