The Trilogia 2019 from Ktima Dyo Ipsi is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from PGI Ilia in the Peloponnese, and it is the best vintage I've tasted so far of the new-era Trilogia — the wines produced since Ktima Biblia Chora took over winemaking. The nose is vibrant, with a lot of raspberry layered on top of cassis. Good acidity. But overall it actually trends toward only medium body, which means it drinks very well already. Still, the tannins show potential for further improvement. I'm interested to see whether the aftertaste will also develop some complexity over the coming years. The Trilogia is, of course, the legendary wine created by the late Christos Kokkalis, the first true icon wine from Greece to gain recognition in Germany, championed by importers like Lobenberg. Having recently revisited older vintages — the magnificent 2006, the precisely elegant 2009 (92 points), and the evolving 2012 (93+ points) — via Coravin, I can say this 2019 sits comfortably in that lineage while showing a different, more immediately approachable character. At 94 points now, it will probably reach 95–96 in five years.
