Olympia Land Estate – Artemis Syrah Rosé 2020

The Artemis Rosé 2020 from Olympia Land Estate is a 100% Syrah rosé from the PGI Ilia in the Peloponnese. Tasted as part of a broader exploration of Greek Syrah wines, this bottle clearly shows its age. Despite visually noticeable oxidation, it maintains a fairly complex aromatic profile. The nose spans a wide spectrum from elderflowers to gooseberries, limes, strawberries, and even raisins. At 14% alcohol, the wine has a substantial body, though it seems to lack some acidity. On the palate, stone fruit like nectarine and tropical fruits such as mango are present, alongside an array of flavors including red cherry and blueberry, ensuring much variety. Compared to other Greek Syrah rosés tasted alongside it – such as the Theotoky Estate Rosé 2020 and the Lefki Poli Rosé 2021 from Ktima Melidou – the Artemis stood out for its complexity but also showed the most signs of aging. A very good wine that earns 89 points.
