Domaine Economou – Economou 2012

The Domaine Economou Cabernet Sauvignon – Merlot 2012 (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot) from PGI Crete is medium-bodied with a surprisingly clear colour for its age – but the aromatics are simply outstanding. Leather, cassis, herbs, and spices layer beautifully, and the wine still has very good grip. It will last ages, though it can certainly be enjoyed now. At 95+ points, this is the best Greek Bordeaux blend I've had in a long time, with clear upward potential still ahead of it.
