Ktima Zafeirakis Limniona Terra Cotta 2020, PGI Tyrnavos, 100% Limniona, 13% alcohol. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 12 months in amphora. The nose is subtle and restrained, but the palate opens up into a complex array of aromas including pepper and honey — a fascinating interplay that makes this the most intriguing of the three Zafeirakis Limniona wines tasted in this session, earning a magnificent 93 points. One caveat worth noting: the amphora-aged wines from this lineup did not retain their qualities as well as the purely oak-aged wines after being open for a couple of days, so this is best enjoyed shortly after opening.
