Metochi Chromitsa — Agathon 2017
PGI Agion Oros Athos
50% Limnio, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon
Macedonia, Greece
Red | dry
13%
The Agathon 2017 (PGI Agion Oros Athos, 13% vol) splits the varieties 50/50 and matures for around 8 months in French barriques — 2 to 3 months less than the Metochi. Pronounced cherry on the nose, with a hint of Greek mountain tea. On the palate, the herbal character is indeed quite pronounced, which stands out compared to the preceding wines. On the finish, however, rather unspectacular. On the positive side, this is certainly no classic Cabernet — Limnio does make its presence felt here. 87 points.
