The Ktima Katsarou 2020 is a Bordeaux-style blend from Thessaly (PGI Krania), composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot at 13.5% alcohol. This wine has great history and is one of my favorite blends of that kind from Greece. I tasted it alongside other Greek Bordeaux blends, including the Kokkotos Estate 2020 and the Kir-Yianni Blue Fox 2020. The 2019 vintage of Ktima Katsarou was amazing – we gave it 94+ points! This time, with the 2020, I was a bit disappointed. Velvety tannins and a pleasing palate, but not overly complex. A solid effort that earns 90 points, though somehow a result that doesn't feel right given what this wine is capable of.
