Estate Manolesakis – Pelagia 2017

In this cuvée from Estate Manolesakis, the Pinot Noir (60%) clearly sets the stylistic tone. A grape variety that is extremely difficult to work with under Greece's climatic conditions.

In the glass, very subtle banana notes appear first. The red berries remain relatively restrained. Instead, rather pleasant tomato aromas come through. On the palate, light dark chocolate emerges. The finish is of medium length. Good acidity carries the structure, and the mere 12% alcohol doesn't feel lacking at all. A genuinely very good experiment that has come off well, earning 89 points. The fact that it just recently won Gold in Berlin fits right in. Since only 800 bottles are produced, the price in Germany unfortunately sits between 30 and 40 euros.
