Alpha Estate's 2017 Axia (PGI Florina) demonstrates, during a comprehensive Xinomavro exploration, how a 50-50 split between Xinomavro and Syrah can deliver truly convincing results. This incredibly fruity wine explodes with bright raspberry notes and shows no signs of age whatsoever. While it will develop beautifully over the next five years, its current state already offers excellent value for money, with a long finish and vibrant fruit character. In a tasting, it even clearly outperformed the S.M.X. from the same vintage. 90 points.
