The Wehlener Klosterberg Chardonnay *** Selektion Schalenkontakt 2020 by Weingut Markus Molitor is a gem exclusively available through Lobenberg (gute-weine.de), where it received a whopping 98+ points – with the claim that it could confuse many for a Puligny-Montrachet in blind tastings. Its intricate notes certainly impressed us, though we land at a more measured 93 points. Still, this is one of the most complex German Chardonnays out there, a wine with real depth and ambition that might be overwhelming for some palates.
