Weingut Dönnhoff – Chardonnay S 2023

Tasted alongside two other excellent Chardonnays in a similar price bracket – the Chardonnay S from Weingut Schäfer-Fröhlich (92 points) and the Plagios White from Ktima Biblia Chora (93 points) – the 2023 Chardonnay S from Weingut Dönnhoff cost a couple of euros more (slightly above the 20 € mark) but was indeed the most convincing wine of the three. Where the Schäfer-Fröhlich offered wonderful freshness and great acidity, and the Biblia Chora delivered a complete package with exotic fruit aromas, the Dönnhoff stood out for being immediately present on the palate with amazing length. A superb German Chardonnay that earns 94 points.
