Tsantali – Klima Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

The 2017 Klima Klima by Tsantali (PGI Chalkidiki) stands out in a varietal Cabernet Sauvignon tasting primarily through its dark berry aromas. The nose is initially dominated by smoky notes, then on the palate a massive wallop of blackberry practically knocks you off your chair, before the finish is taken over by classic, textbook blackcurrant. A well-made wine that, however, can't quite compete structurally in the top leagues. An excellent 90 points. By the way: the name might confuse English speakers with its doubling of 'Klima' – but it makes perfect sense because in Greek, κλίμα ('climate') and κλήμα ('vine') sound identical and are therefore transcribed the same way.
