Passas Winery – Mavra Nera Red 2019

Very fruity nose. On the palate as well, uncomplicated cherry and blueberry aromas come through. The wine has a very nice flow to it, aided by the modest alcohol of just 12%. It clearly recalls a far more well-known Greek cuvée with Syrah – the Thema Rot from Ktima Pavlidis. While this wine is aged exclusively in stainless steel, the blending partner Mavroudi brings enough spicy notes to the table to elevate it well above simple quaffing-wine territory. An excellent 89 points.
