Para…kopois — Onore 2019

A straw wine from the winery Para…kopois on the Greek island of Syros. It's made from 100% Serfiotiko grapes that were dried in the sun for 10 to 12 days. The 2019 is the very first vintage the winery has ever released to market.

The nose is full of thyme, while the palate shows lovely nutty notes along with a touch of candied fruit and caramel – and yes, raisins on the finish. It's a little lacking in the acidity needed to balance out the 131 g/l of residual sugar, but at least on the nose, aromas of currants, gooseberries, and citrus fruits provide a certain freshness. An outstanding wine at 91 points. One can be very curious about the oak-aged version set to hit the market next year.
