Papargyriou Winery — Le Roi Des Montagnes Syrah 2020

PGI Peloponnes
Syrah
Peloponnese, Greece

The Le Roi des Montagnes Syrah 2020 from Papargyriou Winery is a powerhouse. Tannins, alcohol (15%), sweetness, dense aromas — there's quite a lot to chew on here. Thanks to good acidity, the wine doesn't knock you flat, though. Still, this is more something for those with a sweet tooth for opulence than a casual after-work glass. In this style, it has no parallel in Greece. That said, the wine is still clearly too young and has enough substance to last several years. A magnificent 93+ points. If you're not averse to high alcohol but prefer things a touch more restrained, the Avus 2016 from Nadir Winery will probably serve you a bit better.
