Panagiotopoulos Wines – Kalderimi 2020
PGI Peloponnese
Moschofilero

White | dry
12.5%
The Kalderimi from Panagiotopoulos Wines is a very local wine from the area around Pyrgos in Trifilia – one you'll really only come across if you're traveling through the region, which is actually a real shame. Because here, bouquet-driven aromas finally come together in harmonious union with fruitier notes. Marigolds and mirabelle plums merge into a very appealing impression on the nose. Lychee practically leaps at you on the palate. On the finish, the mind drifts back toward dried meadow flowers. The 12.5% alcohol does come across as a touch pushy, though. In the long run, this wine won't be able to keep up with the Mantineia 2021 from Ktima Tselepou, but right now, with an excellent 91 points, it is – surprisingly – ahead of the pack.
