Olympia Land Estate — Oreino Monopati Chardonnay 2020

The Oreino Monopati Chardonnay 2020 from Olympia Land Estate in the PGI Ilia shows that it doesn't always have to be oak — even if this isn't exactly a textbook example of a stainless steel Chardonnay. While it was indeed aged exclusively in stainless steel, the style is distinctly oxidative. The aromatics come across as overripe, despite the alcohol sitting at just 13%. The fruit aromas are reminiscent above all of canned pineapple. The tannins do put the brakes on the drinking flow, but the above-average length and genuinely exciting finish keeps tempting you back for another sip. An already very good wine: 85 points.
