Nemea Winery – Rosé 2021

Signature Collection

PGI Peloponnese
Moschofilero, Agiorgitiko
Peloponnese, Greece
Rosé | dry
13%

Alongside the reds, the rosé from Nemea Winery's Signature Collection was also opened – a 2021 blend of Moschofilero, the grape variety of PDO Mantineia, and Agiorgitiko. The floral aromas of the Moschofilero combine with the fruity notes of the Agiorgitiko on the palate in a rather intriguing way. That said, the various sensory impressions don't quite come together harmoniously yet. Which doesn't mean this wine isn't enjoyable – quite the opposite: because no clear-cut profile emerges, it stays rather flat in the mouth at first and invites you to take the next sip. You don't notice the 13% alcohol at all; you could easily drain the bottle like juice. Only the chalky tannin holds you back a little, inviting you to linger over that last sip. Scored somewhat conservatively, but a very good 88 points. Adventurous drinkers and fans of PGI Peloponnese should definitely grab this – Mantineia and Nemea going hand in hand like this is something you really ought to enjoy.
