Mylonas Winery — Assyrtiko 2021

The Assyrtiko 2021 from Mylonas Winery (PGI Attika) packs a punch. What a refreshing wine! In the mouth, it immediately feels a few degrees cooler than the other wines in the blind tasting of mainland Assyrtiko. Yes, there's a touch of CO2 that it doesn't strictly need. But the acidity is so perfectly balanced and carries the wine for so long that you're willing to forgive a lot. Aromatically, peach dominates, threading very consistently through the entire flavor profile. The wine doesn't deliver a wide range of aromas, though — and that does eventually raise some doubts when it comes to an enthusiastic score.

On the other hand: this isn't a wine you need to drink over several days and dissect. Before the freshness shock wears off, it gets an excellent 91 points.
