Mommessin — Volnay 1953

Opened for my father's 70th birthday alongside several other 1953 bottles, the Mommessin Volnay 1953 — a négociant Burgundy made from 100% Pinot Noir — was unfortunately no longer drinkable. Of the four wines from that vintage tasted that day, two had survived (a Beaune from Patriarche Père et Fils and a Bordeaux Supérieur), while this Volnay and the Cassevert (second wine of Château Grand Mayne) had both given up the ghost.
