Mikro Ktima (Titos) – Goumenissa 2019

The 2019 Goumenissa from Mikro Ktima (Titos), a satellite estate of Ktima Biblia Chora, was tasted as part of a comprehensive Xinomavro exploration. A blend of 80% Xinomavro and 20% Negoska, the wine undergoes co-fermentation followed by ageing in a combination of used 500-litre Slavonian oak casks and barriques. It captivates with its intense concentration of sour cherry on both nose and palate, complemented by subtle allspice notes. Interestingly, it shows few typical Xinomavro characteristics – in a blind tasting, you might mistake it for an international wine. While the acidity is brilliant and the medium-length finish hints at potential, this wine probably needs more time to reveal its full complexity. 92+ points.
