Metochi Chromitsa — Metochi Chromitsa 2017
PGI Agion Oros Athos
65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Limnio
Macedonia, Greece
Red | dry
14%
The Metochi Chromitsa 2017 (PGI Agion Oros Athos, 14% vol) relies more heavily on the international partner with 65% Cabernet and 35% Limnio, with a longer maceration period and more time in barrel. On the nose, notably more farmyard character than the previous wines, with plenty of leather. On the palate, the tannins are still very coarse. On the finish, a touch of black tea. Not a bad wine, but somewhat overworked. A wine that will certainly compete at a high level in a few years, but one that fails to enthral at present. 87+ points.
