Melidou Winery – Mavros Vrachos 2019

The Mavros Vrachos 2019 from Melidou Winery (PGI Serres) may be more of an entry-level wine, but it certainly holds its own. It was tasted as part of an extensive tasting of Greek Syrah reds. The color leans more red than violet, but typical blueberry flavors on the palate quickly give away the grape variety. The tannin structure is on the lighter side, and the acidity is low. That said, even in its fourth year, the wine still comes across as remarkably fresh. The 14.5% alcohol is very well integrated. Drinking beautifully right now. A very good 89 points!
