Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Referts 2020 from Les Héritiers Saint-Genys. Tasted as part of an annual August Chardonnay tasting that pitted international heavyweights against top Greek Chardonnays, including the William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Valmur 2020 (93 points), the Markus Molitor Wehlener Klosterberg Selektion Schalenkontakt (93 points), the Plagios White 2020 from Ktima Biblia Chora (94 points), and the eagerly awaited debut vintage of Ktima Katsarou's premium Chardonnay "Stella" 2020 (96 points). This Puligny-Montrachet was a sensory marvel — some found its aroma subtle on the nose, while others felt even a drop was overwhelmingly intense. There was no debate, however, about it offering a mouthfilling explosion of aromas on the palate. The only wine that surpassed the 96-point Stella, this was the undisputed top wine of the tasting, earning a magnificent 98 points. That said, the Stella, priced at 50–60 euros, offers exceptional value compared to this Burgundian giant.
