Domaine Paliomylos – Sauvignon Blanc & Assyrtiko 2019

The Ktima Paliomilos Sauvignon Blanc & Assyrtiko 2019 is the house wine of this Drama-based estate, and it represents a blend that has become very popular in the PGI Drama appellation in particular. This is a good example of the combination in that it brings together exotic aromas from the international Sauvignon Blanc with the bracing acidity of the Greek Assyrtiko. Despite being from the 2019 vintage, the Assyrtiko still keeps it fresh – a testament to the variety's natural verve. It's not the most complex wine, but it's very refreshing and easy to enjoy. This was the opening wine in a tasting of Greek white blends, each built from two varieties, and it set a solid tone. At a very good 86 points, it delivers honest, uncomplicated pleasure, and like all the wines in that lineup, it offers great value for money at around ten euros.
