Ktima Kelesidis' 2017 Arothimies (PGI Imathia), encountered during a systematic Xinomavro exploration, presents an unusual combination: 60% Xinomavro with equal parts Merlot and Syrah (20% each). Even more unusual is its off-dry style (17g/l residual sugar) despite 14% alcohol. Reminiscent of Nama (sweet communion wine), with prominent violet aromas, this is a distinctive style that won't be everyone's cup of tea but has been masterfully executed. 88 points.
