Ktima G. Kokotou – Chardonnay 2018

PGI Voreies Plagies Pentelikou
100% Chardonnay
Attica, Greece
White | dry
13%

Ktima G. Kokotou's 2018 Chardonnay from the northern slopes of Pentelikon in Attika (PGI Voreies Plagies Pentelikou) is a stainless steel-fermented wine that was well past the two to three years of aging potential specified by the producer, especially given suboptimal storage conditions. But it still drank very well. An enticing nose with quite a bit of exotic fruit still coming through, excellent texture, and good length. Tasted alongside some serious international Chardonnays – including a Chablis Grand Cru Valmur 2020 from William Fèvre, a Wehlener Klosterberg Selektion Schalenkontakt from Markus Molitor, and a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Referts 2020 from Les Héritiers Saint-Genys – this modest Kokotou held its own admirably for a wine well beyond its intended drinking window, earning a very respectable 90 points.
