Ktima Dyio Ipsi — Dialogos Red 2019

Agiorgitiko - Syrah

PGI Ilia
50% Agiorgitiko, 50% Syrah
Peloponnese, Greece
Red | dry
14% | Organic

As part of a tasting of Agiorgitiko cuvées, the red Dialogos 2019 from Ktima Dio Ipsi was tasted — a satellite estate of Ktima Biblia Chora, intended to carry on the legacy of Christos Kokkalis in the PGI Ilia. The cuvée is a 50/50 blend of Agiorgitiko and Syrah. The predecessor wine 'Mova' by Christos Kokkalis, which achieved cult status and is no longer available on the secondary market, was composed of 70% Agiorgitiko and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. One might lament the change of blending partner, but one has to admit that the new wine is very well made. Even the label is a perfect match for the violet-hued wine. On the nose, ashy aromas immediately recall the house style of Ktima Biblia Chora — more specifically the red estate wine (without Syrah). Fittingly, the palate also reveals smoky, bacon-like aromas, which are likely indeed contributed by the Syrah. Aromatically, wild berries dominate. The tannins are very fine, the interplay is excellent. 14% alcohol is spot on. The finish is medium-long, marked by spices. The wine has outstanding drive. An incredibly delicious wine that deserves an excellent 91+ points. For higher spheres, it still lacks a touch of complexity — though that could well develop with more age.
