Ktima Brintziki – Augoustiatis Green 2017

The Ktima Brintziki Augoustiatis Green 2017, a 100% Augoustiatis from PGI Pisatis in the Peloponnese, is very fruit-driven in the nose, with raspberry and strawberry dominating. An additional layer of spices, such as pepper and clove, a little bit of kumquat, and even a hint of roses supplements this without overshadowing the fresh impression. On the palate, velvety tannins support the wine throughout the drinking experience. A structure that is further bolstered by perfect acidity. And all of that at just 12.5% alcohol – but without the slightest hint of unripeness. Not a combination you'd normally associate with a Greek red wine. It is unusual to have a low-intervention wine with such precision. No barn aromas (which I do like but many don't). Also, no apparent tertiary aromas. A remarkable wine that earns 92+ points, signaling there may be even more to come as it develops.
