Ktima Biblia Chora — Sole Pinot Noir 2019

PGI Pangeon
Pinot Noir (100%)
Macedonia, Greece
Red | dry
13.5%

The fruit on the nose is still very restrained at the moment. This is a wine that should be cellared for a while longer. Right now, the oak still dominates quite heavily with caramel and clove aromas, though these will surely integrate beautifully over time. On the palate, the wine is defined more by its minerality, even if the typical blood-like tones are missing. The cherry still shows itself somewhat reserved, joined increasingly by dark fruit. A decidedly elegant Pinot Noir, though it comes across as a bit sluggish for now, partly because the alcohol weighs in a touch too heavily on the finish. In a few years, it will certainly deserve more than the already outstanding 90 points. At around €20, the price is fair given the rarity of the grape variety on the Greek market — even if for the same money, including from the same winery, you can get better, more internationally competitive red wines.
