100% Assyrtiko

Organic

The Areti white 2019 from Biblia Chora (PGI Pangeon) was the winner of a blind tasting of Assyrtiko wines from the Greek mainland. Stylistically quite similar to the explosive Alepotrypa 2020 from Hatzimichalis – just less excitable, more composed and self-assured. The 2018 vintage had achieved a fantastic sixth place in the previous round of the competition for the 50 best Greek wines (50GGW) and soon sold out everywhere. In last year's tasting, unfortunately a bottle fault prevented a proper evaluation, which is why the wine was specifically purchased for this round.

Even though this wine also unleashes its aromatics in explosive fashion, from the very first sip there was never any question that you had something truly special in the glass. The refined nose is joined by a highly complex flavor progression – and a very long finish. A wine that inspires awe and that you really should try at least once. A phenomenal Greek Assyrtiko that deserves 95+ points. And you can confidently lay this one down in the cellar too, because it's guaranteed to hold for a good few more years. Available at €16.90 per bottle.
