Ktima Anaxagora – Xynisteri 2020

Tasted as part of a Cypriot white wine line-up, the Xynisteri 2020 from Ktima Anaxagora was sampled. On the nose, this wine showed itself to be very elegant when tasted the previous year. No overripe notes whatsoever. Instead: rhubarb, peach, and elderflower. On the palate, the wine then takes a very complex trajectory. Initially it's quite mouth-filling, but at only 12.5% it doesn't sustain that creamy texture. For a truly elegant style, it unfortunately lacks a bit of structure, even though a late acidity peak does eventually arrive. On the finish – admittedly surprisingly long – it turns a touch metallic, unfortunately. An undoubtedly fascinating wine that ultimately still needs to settle down a bit. A very good 87 points – and the excitement remains as to where the journey will lead.
