Kokotos Estate – Savatiano 2021

Kokotos Estate Savatiano 2021 from Attika: The variety Savatiano is almost synonymous with Retsina and has long been associated with cheap wine made drinkable by pine resin – but its reputation is changing, and this wine is a prime example of why. In a tasting that included Savatiano bottlings from Skoumpris Winery and Mylonas Winery, the Kokotos Estate stood out as by far the most complex and most elegant Savatiano of the lineup – a magnificent wine that earns 93 points. I liked it even more than the Kokotos Estate oaked Savatiano, which, admittedly, seemed much fresher than the 2017 vintage I had previously tried. The oaked version scored 91 points.
