Palpo 2022, Kir-Yianni (PGI Florina) – Part of an exploration of renowned Greek Chardonnays, this single vineyard white is vibrantly expressive, highlighting citrus tones and achieving a harmonious balance of acidity and a 14% alcohol kick. Cultivated from vines planted in 1990, it boldly challenges the Plagios white from Ktima Biblia Chora as the most impressive Greek Chardonnay at its price level of around 20€. Though the Plagios is a shade more refined, Kir-Yianni's version is splendidly accessible, even in its youth, without being simplistic. It leaves a longing for another sip and boasts a captivating aftertaste. Securing 92 points, it'll be intriguing to see how it matures.
