Kalogris Organic Winery – Kyriaki! 2019

Kalogris Organic Winery calls this wine "Kyriaki" – meaning "Sunday" in Greek – but this organic, natural-yeast, unfiltered Merlot from Arcadia in the Peloponnese proved perfect for a relaxed Friday before Christmas. I'm not usually a big fan of off-dry red wines, but the Kyriaki! 2019 has just the right amount of residual sugar, and at a light 12.2% alcohol it never feels heavy. The sweetness pairs beautifully with spicy sausages and cheese. It's a very fruity wine, and despite some oxidative elements, fresh blueberry aromas still come through convincingly. A charming, easy-going Merlot that earns a well-deserved 89 points.
