Domaine Hatzimichalis — Opus IB 2015

The 2015 Opus 12 (Ὀπούς ιβ') from Domaine Hatzimichalis is a 100% Cabernet Franc from the Atalanti Valley in Central Greece. It is marked by less dark fruit than one might expect from the variety; instead, there is a lot of cherry, already prominent on the nose. In fact, there is an elegant Burgundy quality to it — a lightness and finesse that sets it apart. Compared to the other two Opus 12 vintages tasted, the 2015 does not quite have as much push and is still somewhat rustic and closed, hinting at further potential. A compelling wine that deserves its 92+ points.
