Domaine Hatzimichalis — Malagousia Dryos 2021

Dryos Vineyard

PGI Atalanti
100% Malagousia
Central Greece, Greece
White | dry
13.5%

Stylistically completely different from the Malagousia by Ktima Kissa, but comparable in quality: the Malagousia Dryos 2021 from Domaine Hatzimichalis in the PGI Atalanti was tasted as part of an extensive Malagousia comparative tasting. Here too we have 13.5% alcohol. The acidity sits in the mid-range. Structurally, minerality clearly dominates. It is the only wine in the tasting that saw oak barrel ageing. It shows a fine, citrusy nose. There's also straw – but this time not damp, unlike some other Malagousia in the tasting. The palate has something extraordinarily red-fruited about it. The finish is very long. A magnificent 93+ points. It would be fascinating to follow the ageing potential of this oak-aged version over time.
