Domaine Hatzimichalis – Chardonnay Houlevena 2021

Domaine Hatzimichalis raises the bar with the Chardonnay Houlevena 2021 from PGI Atalanti, outpacing quite a few competitors. The wine comes in at a hefty 14.5% alcohol, yet it never saw oak, so it's by no means overly buttery. Quite the opposite – this strikingly golden-yellow wine seduces with a fantastic nose. Aromas of yellow stone fruit dominate, the kind you could just sink into. On the palate it's a touch less spectacular, but still very good. An outstanding 91 points overall. At the time of tasting, the wine was available in German retail for €10.70 – an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
