The Mirabello 2015 from Domaine Economou is a 60:40 blend of Liatiko and Mandilaria that presents itself as vibrant and brimming with energy. Light ruby red with garnet reflections. On the nose, ripe plums, red cherries, caramel, leather, and hints of cedar and thyme. On the palate, the tannins are truly unique – you practically land on them, like the soft impact of a rubber dinghy hitting a water surface. Smoky undertones and fresh acidity balance the juicy fruit, leading into a long, elegant finish. 96 points – and outstanding value for money at around €50! Others rate this wine more conservatively, but the score seems entirely justified given how it showed in a direct comparison with the legendary Antigone 2004 from the same estate.
