Dionysos Winery – Orizontes White 2021

Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Malagousia, Assyrtiko
Peloponnese, Greece
White | dry

The Orizontes White 2021 from Dionysos Winery in the Peloponnese is a blend that combines the two most popular international white varieties – Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc – with the two most famous Greek white varieties, Malagousia and Assyrtiko. Combining the latter two is quite common in Greece because it allows winemakers to marry the floral and fruity characteristics of Malagousia with the crisp acidity of Assyrtiko. Here, we also get exotic fruit aromas from the international varieties, and they dominate in the nose. On the palate, there is a nice back and forth between floral and fruity impressions. There could be more length and a thicker texture to frame all these aromas properly. But this is still already a very good wine, which deserves its 87 points.
