Diofili — Xinomavro 2017
PGI Siatista
100% Xinomavro
Macedonia, Greece
Red | dry
13%
The 2017 Xinomavro from Diofili Winery (PGI Siatista) is part of an exploration of Xinomavro wines produced outside the traditional PDO appellations. Produced from 70-year-old vines, this wine shows intriguing notes of marzipan on both the nose and the finish. However, the palate feels a bit thin and lacks the depth needed to make a lasting impression. At only 13% alcohol, one wonders how this wine would feel with a touch more ripeness and concentration. While there's nothing particularly wrong with it, it doesn't stand out either — at 87 points, it's pleasant but easily forgotten.
