Château Léognan – Château Léognan 2019

Château Léognan 2019 (Pessac-Léognan). Crafted in Bordeaux, this wine's story is as deep as its roots in the vineyard once part of the Domaine de Chevalier. Its six hectares, planted on premium terroir in 1989, produce exceptionally low yields. The new ownership has embraced organic viticulture. A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot at 13% alcohol, this is a serious Pessac-Léognan red. On the nose it comes across almost Burgundian, laced with caramel and black cherry, plus subtle eucalyptus and mint. On the palate, smooth tannins and a unique saltiness lead into a finish that is slightly constrained by iodine nuances. The aftertaste, however, is magnificent – a wine that earns 93+ points.
