Château La Croix – Château La Croix 2015
AOC Pomerol
Merlot, Cabernet Franc
Bordeaux, France
Red | dry
The Château La Croix 2015 was in the glass at roughly the same time as the 2021 from the same estate, and the comparison made the vintage difference tangible. On the Right Bank, 2015 is regarded as one of the clear counterpoints to 2021: Decanter calls the vintage "seductive", Merlot was a great success, with plenty of fruit and very fine tannins. This La Croix confirms that picture. It shows what the estate can achieve in a great Merlot year: ripe, sweet fruit over fine, already wonderfully integrated tannin, with the suppleness that the cool 2021 vintage lacks. 94 points.
This brief note documents a comparative tasting; the detailed appraisal of the estate – its location in the heart of Pomerol, its signature across the vintages – can be found in the note on the 2021.
