Cavino — Pandora 2021
PGI Peloponnes
60% Agiorgitiko, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon
Peloponnese, Greece
Red | dry
12%
Tasted as part of a lineup of Agiorgitiko cuvées, the Pandora rot from Cavino is a PGI Peloponnes wine made from Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon, available cheaply at LIDL. The mere 12% alcohol on the label already hints at what becomes abundantly clear on the palate: a lack of grape ripeness. The wine is aromatically very green, and the Cabernet Sauvignon contributes no meaningful structural tannin. Accordingly, the wine is quite pale. There is some cherry character present. The wine is decent, but at 70 points just barely so. Interestingly, it seems that in earlier years Syrah was used as the blending partner, and at some point they switched to Cabernet Sauvignon.
