Tasted as part of a lineup of Agiorgitiko cuvées, the off-dry rosé Τρείς Μάγισσες 2021 from Barafakas Winery is a fascinating proposition. At 2.4 bar, the wine has roughly the same pressure as a car tire (a 'Perlwein' in German classification terms). With 18 g/L residual sugar and a modest 11% alcohol, this makes for a captivating combination — especially since subtle bitter notes on the finish prevent it from veering into kitsch territory. The 'three witches' are Agiorgitiko (80%), Syrah (10%), and Moschofilero (10%). And indeed, fruit, verve, and florality come together here in truly enchanting fashion. Without question the best off-dry rosé from Greece tasted this year. An outstanding 91 points.
