Barafakas Winery – Idea White 2021

The Idea weiß 2021 from Barafakas Winery hails from the PDO Nemea and carries the PGI Peloponnes designation. It's a blend of Assyrtiko and Malagousia, tasted as part of a comparative tasting of various Assyrtiko-Malagousia cuvées.

This wine is a lovely complement to the classic from Ktima Gerovassiliou, as the floral potential of the Malagousia grape comes through more prominently here. On top of that, the acidity is just a touch more pronounced. What's beautiful about this wine is that both blending partners show up as equals, each true to its varietal character – the florality of the Malagousia and the freshness of the Assyrtiko are both clearly recognizable and harmoniously interwoven. That earns an excellent 89 points.
