Astir X Winery – Astakos Red 2018

The Astir X Winery Astakos 2018 is a Merlot-Tempranillo blend from the Peloponnese (PGI Peloponnese), though the exact blend ratio is not publicly disclosed and I could not determine which specific vineyards the grapes come from. Unlike some of the other Greek wines in this tasting, the Astakos underwhelms. An off, chlorinated note dominates the nose and palate, masking any fruit that might be lurking underneath. At 80 points, it's a disappointing effort. I've had much better wines from Astir X Winery.
