Alpha Estate – Hedgehog Rosé 2019

A rosé made from Xinomavro (in Amyndeon, rosé wine can also carry the PDO label) that really packs a punch. On the nose, the fruit is quite restrained, with herbal notes dominating. On the palate, the acidity is incredibly precise. The equally explosive aromas fade only very slowly, continually revealing new nuances along the way, including a touch of dried tomato and wild berries on the finish. The finish is also marked by a very pronounced salinity that keeps you coming back for more. A wine that placed 21st at the Great Greek Wines 2020 (for the 2019 vintage) and certainly deserves a magnificent 94 points.
